Skin Care Tips For Beautiful Skin

SKINCARE TIPS

Everyone wants glowing, beautiful skin. However, it isn’t always easy to achieve, especially when you have acne or a skin condition.

Washing the face upon waking and before going to sleep helps remove dirt, bacteria, and excess oil. It also helps prevent clogged pores and blackheads. Use lukewarm water and pat your skin dry.

1. Double Cleanse

Double cleansing is an important step in getting your skin super clean and rid of any built up impurities. A skin-care technique originally from Japan and Korea, this approach to cleansing your face involves using two separate cleanser formulas: an oil-based product and a water-based one.

The first cleanser is an oil-based product that dissolves any makeup, sunscreen, or excess sebum from the skin. This helps to break down oils and sebum that can cause pores to become clogged and is a great option for those with oily or combination skin, as it will help regulate your natural oils.

Next, follow up with a water-based cleanser, such as Sukin Blemish Control Clearing Face Wash which has been specially formulated for your specific skin type. This round will get more deeply into your pores to remove bacteria, sweat and any other dirt and debris. This helps to ensure that all makeup, oil, and sebum is fully removed from the skin so that your serums and moisturizers can be properly absorbed by the skin. Keeping this step in your skincare routine, especially at night, will ensure that you are giving your skin the best chance for beautiful and healthy looking skin.

2. Moisturize

Moisturizers often get seen as an optional skincare step, but this is far from the truth. Moisturizers should be applied every morning and night after cleansing. Make sure you look for moisturizers that are lightweight and contain hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid. If you have oily skin, moisturizing can actually decrease the overproduction of oil in your skin and reduce breakouts.

Besides keeping your skin hydrated, moisturizers also seal in the nutrients and other beneficial ingredients from the serums and face masks you’ve used. One of the best ingredients to incorporate into your skin is niacinamide. It’s part of the B vitamin family, and although we regularly digest it through a healthy diet (think whole grains, fish, meat, and greens), it is also becoming a popular skincare ingredient that is effective for all skin types.

Moisturizing is also a great way to protect your face from the harsh effects of the sun. Applying sunscreen prevents premature aging, dark spots and fine lines and wrinkles. It also protects against sunburn and helps prevent skin cancer. Always remember to reapply throughout the day, especially after swimming or sweating.

3. Exfoliate

It is essential that you exfoliate your skin on a regular basis. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and prevents clogged pores and blackheads. It also helps skin absorb moisturizers and serums more effectively.

Physically scrubbing isn’t the best way to exfoliate since it can be too harsh and lead to microtears, which cause dryness. A gentle chemical exfoliant like our Clarifying Lotion is much more effective. It contains both AHAs and BHAs to break down bacteria, hydrate skin and speed up cell turnover. We recommend using it on a daily basis, twice a week and applying a nourishing body moisturizer afterward to keep skin glowing and soft.

For those with sensitive skin, look for an exfoliant that uses tiny beads or granules such as jojoba beads or ruby crystals. These are small and uniform in size, making them less likely to irritate or damage skin. We also recommend using a weekly scrub or mask with larger granules such as crushed nutshells, ground fruit pits or natural salts to exfoliate the skin on a deeper level.

4. Apply Sunscreen

Sunscreen is one of the most important skincare products you can use. It prevents DNA damage and slows the progression of skin cancer. It also helps reduce the appearance of discoloration, wrinkles and sagging. It works optimally when it’s applied in the correct amount daily and reapplied frequently to maintain protection.

You’ll want to choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays. There are many options available including lotions, gels, ointments and sprays. It’s important to find one that suits your needs and skin type. Look for sunscreens that contain antioxidants and nourishing ingredients like niacinamide, chamomile extract and allantoin.

When applying sunscreen, it’s best to rub it in until a sheen appears all over the body. It can be helpful to ask a friend to help you get to those hard-to-reach spots on the back of your neck and ears. It’s also a good idea to wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.

5. Snail Secretion Filtrate

Snail slime (otherwise known as snail filtrate) is taking the K-beauty world by storm and it may sound gross, but this ingredient is said to do wonders for your skin. This liquid secretion is believed to be extremely moisturizing, helps repair fine lines and scars, reduces pore size and acne, and provides anti-aging benefits.

Snails create this gel-like mucus to help them crawl on surfaces without getting scratched, and it protects them from dryness, bacteria, and UV rays. In cosmetic products, the slime is often filtered multiple times to increase the concentration of nutrients and then combined with other ingredients like peptides, glycoproteins, copper peptides, hyaluronic acid, and more.

Smith says the best way to incorporate snail filtrate into your routine is by adding it to an essence, which is a thin, water-based serum. Gently pat this onto your skin and let it absorb before continuing with the rest of your skincare routine. Make sure to use this product before any oil-based moisturizers so that the snail mucin can penetrate your skin and really work its magic.
